House of Rum

A truly exceptional discovery from Barbados, this 2006 Single Cask Rum comes from the renowned Foursquare Rum Distillery, one of the most highly regarded rum producers in the world. Distilled in 2006 and matured for an extraordinary 20 years, this rare expression spent 14 years ageing in the tropical climate of Barbados before continuing its journey in Scotland.

After its initial tropical maturation in American oak casks, the rum was shipped to Scotland in late 2020 and transferred into once-used Bourbon casks for a further six years of continental ageing. Bottled in September 2026, this special release celebrates 20 years of the world-renowned Rum Festival and its founder, Ian Burrell.

Tasting Notes:

Nose: Rich and inviting, with notes of vanilla, nutmeg, a touch of clove and dried fruits.

Palate: Smooth and warming, with layers of butterscotch, cocoa nib and fragrant warm spices.

Finish: Long, slow and warming, with the flavours lingering beautifully on the palate.

Bottled at 56.5% ABV, this is a rare opportunity to experience a 20-year-old single cask from Foursquare, with the majority of its maturation taking place in Barbados itself. About Foursquare

Located in Saint Philip, Barbados, Foursquare Rum Distillery occupies the grounds of a former sugar plantation dating back to around 1720. The distillery was revived by the Seale family in 1996 and is today overseen by fourth-generation distiller and blender Richard Seale.

Foursquare has become one of the most respected names in modern rum, renowned for its exceptional cask-aged releases, traditional distillation methods and commitment to producing authentic, characterful Barbadian rum.

A bold and characterful expression from Jamaica, this 2013 Single Cask Rum is a masterclass in high-ester distillation and long, complex ageing. Distilled in 2013 in a traditional Jamaican pot still, this rum underwent nine years of maturation, with initial tropical ageing in ex-Bourbon casks followed by further continental maturation in the UK.

Distilled from estate-grown red and yellow sugarcane, this exceptional rum has been aged in two distinct climates—two years of tropical ageing in ex-Bourbon casks in Mauritius, followed by seven years of continental maturation in the UK in ex-English whisky casks that previously held red wine.

A powerful rum from the Worthy Park distillery, bottled at 63.4% ABV. It offers earthy, robust flavours of molasses, dried fruit, and leather, with a smooth, rich finish that lingers.

Barbados 2010. Foursquare distillery 60.5% ABV

Crafted by the Foursquare distillery, this rum presents an ABV of 60.5%. It has a bold, flavourful profile with notes of vanilla, oak, and dried fruit, complemented by a rich, spicy finish.

Dominican Republic 2000. Oliver Y Oliver. 55.5% ABV

Venezuela 2005. CADC. 57% ABV

The Panama 2004 is an exceptional spirit from the Varela Hermanos Distillery, representing Panama's storied rum-making tradition. The rum reflects the enduring heritage of Panamanian rum production, which began with the introduction of sugarcane by the Spanish in the 16th century.

This batch matured for 12 years in Panama’s tropical climate in ex-Bourbon casks, followed by 7 years of continental ageing in the UK in ex-rum casks. Bottled in 2023 with an ABV of 57.5%, this single-cask release is entirely pure, containing no added flavours, colouring agents, or sugars. Limited to just 254 bottles, it captures the essence of Panama's history, craftsmanship, and dedication to excellence, offering a unique and authentic rum experience.

Nose – Vanilla and custard cream from the start, then fudge, liquorice roots, and an overriding fruit character of apricot and candied orange peel, combined with a touch of honey. Underneath, a touch of overripe banana plus a gentle spiciness of ground black pepper and a little balsamic note.

Palate – Flavours of vanilla, honey, and cigar box. Silky honey syrup sweetness blanched out by bitter sensations of ground coffee and liquorice. Dried peach, apricot, dried figs, and dates on the mid-palate, winter spices, a hint of leather and butterscotch on the finish.
