Mapmakers Coastal Spiced Rum

Dunnet Bay Distillers are multi-award-winning distillers of exceptional spirits. It’s in their nature to create spirits which reflect the Caithness way and their ethos is based on five core values; authenticity, sustainability, flavour, innovation and tradition.

Mapmakers Coastal Spiced Rum is a tribute to Timothy Pont – a local Minister of Dunnet Parish and cartographer who spent his summers diligently surveying Scotland.

“Rum worth finding”

A twice-distilled scratch-made Scottish rum blended with premium Caribbean rum, pure Loch water and local botanicals.

Full-bodied & well rounded

Bright citrus lemon verbena, scurvy grass, sea kelp and Scottish sea salt offer subtle salinity giving salted caramel flavours. Further toffee, butterscotch, banana, vanilla and liquorice.

…a delicate complexity of flavour

Celebrating local flavour, produce and botanicals to create distinctive and delicious rum. Scottish west coast sea salt is sourced from Blackthorn and provides a light coastal salinity. The Oarweed Sea Kelp is rich in iodine, protein, magnesium, calcium and iron and brings fabulous umami flavours. The perennial coastal scurvy grass (Cochlearia Officinalis) is characterised by a horseradish/mustard taste and offers a liquorice with a light peppery finish to the rum. Smooth with a warming finish.

A very versatile and smooth rum which can be enjoyed neat, over ice or paired with a long mixer and a slice or orange to enhance the citrus notes.
