ORIGINAL DEEDS RUM

Once upon a time, the small English town of Pontefract were experts in growing liquorice root which they formed into jet black sweet liquorice ‘Pontefract cakes’, affectionally known as ‘The Yorkshire Penny’.

“Born in Pontefract”

Caribbean rum was imported in wooden oak barrels and would often contaminate with salty seawater. In the 1800s, some genius decided to blend the imported Caribbean rum with these Yorkshire Pennies to make a deliciously rich and smooth rum blend. The sweet little liquorice sweet cakes were ideal for flavouring, colouring and sweetening the salty sea rum.

“The miraculous blend”

Notes of sweet vanilla, toasted dark caramel and black liquorice with a hint of cinnamon.

‘Pontefract miracle’

Best enjoyed neat, over ice or paired with your favourite mixer.

We recommended pairing it with a fierce ginger beer and a big squeeze of lime to make a ‘Dirty Deeds’. Or make a ‘Back in Black’ by pairing with Cherry Cola and a maraschino cherry garnish.
